Pain BC Society
The Pain BC Society is a not-for-profit organization who's mandate is to reduce the burden of chronic pain. Chronic pain cost Canada over $6 billion per year in direct healthcare costs—much of that could be prevented. This is an organization that is truly making a difference in the lives of people in pain and within the international medical community. They are an amazing and dedicated group of people made up of physicians, nurses, business advisors, specialists, other medical profressionals—and a fantastic executive director. We love working with them.
We took their communications committee through a complete brand development and logo design process.
It is always our goal to create logomarks that resonate both the members of the organization we are working with (the client) and with their audiences. The feedback they have received is that this logo has been tremendous. People see numerous meanings including a body dancing and moving. The vertical curved lines can be seen to refer to the intertwining of communities. The shape is reminiscent of a myelinated axon — the part of the neuron that carries the (pain) signal. An axon is vehicle for communication, like a telephone wire, this is how the pain signal is conveyed. When a logo is meaningful it is also unique to the organization.
We created Pain BC's website in the Drupal platform, they manage their site internally.
These were two infographics that I custom illustrated for Pain BC to demonstrate positive and negative spirals that can occur with the lives of people with pain.
A two sided information sheet.
We created a number of collateral items including a digital newsletter template that they publish internatlly, a book sticker, form, and strategic plan publication.
Layout and design assistance for this publication was carried out by Amer Alkathib.
